I am loathe to sound critical, we all appreciate the NHS is under strain, we appreciate that .
ESCat waiting times are often being breached and this has often been out of the hands of staff, though in my scenario it is feeling almost as though I have been completely missed off a list.
I was told around July 2024 that my ESCat 1 surgery would be undertaken by October 2024. I had the pre-op appointment around the August of 2024 and here I am 16 months later, still awaiting the surgery.
This situation is impacting on my ability to work and, on times, function. I worry that Women's Services (added to by the delays in the building of the new Baird Hospital) are not of as high importance to the Scottish Government in comparison to other services - I do not blame the NHS Grampian staff, I feel failed at Central Government level.
Again, I am loathe to sound critical. On the one occasion I telephoned (in recent weeks) to politely ask if I would have a date soon I was sharply told there are other people ahead of me on the waiting list.
When the NHS Grampian Waiting Times information page advertises that 18 weeks was the average wait time for 90% of ESCat 1 Gynae patients as at 1st Oct 2025, what am I supposed to do? I have had no option but to ask my GP to expedite - I waited 5 weeks for my GP appointment to do so.
