I brought my son to RBHSC ED this morning as he had fallen onto the handlebars of his scooter (trying to do a wheelie, in his own words). He had a small injury to his cheek and mouth that needed reviewed. We were seen by a male nurse and student nurse in triage very promptly. Both were so friendly and professional. I was worried that the injury was a waste of time bringing him but thankfully they agreed I’d done the right thing. The nurse was so kind to him (he’s 6) and made him laugh and feel comfortable. He offered him pain relief (which I’d forgotten to give him and felt like a bad mum!) and explained what would happen.
As we left triage the nurse practitioner called us immediately and brought us into a bay. Claire was friendly and professional. She put us both at ease and nothing was too much bother. She cleansed the wound and treated it very promptly. My son was delighted with his stickers and we left the department not long after we’d arrived. Our experience today was seamless. The department was clean, staff were friendly and we were treated with care and compassion. I can’t remember the male triage nurses name but please pass on my thanks to everyone involved in my sons care.
