"I would say this whole exercise is a farce."

About: Forensic mental health / Forensic Intensive Recovery Support Team (FIRST)

(as a carer),

I was totally stunned and shocked to receive this letter for feedback, since the official line from MPFT is that they are not commissioned to support carers, I wonder where this has come from.

Because of receiving this letter, I have made enquiries today and discovered there is a carers lead who has regular meetings about carers.

Since I have had no support as a carer in all the time I have been involved with MPFT, I am shocked and angry that someone is having meetings about us without involving us.

The CMHT also needs to look at their responses to enquiries, and stop demanding personal details as a right.

I would say this whole exercise is a farce.

Thanks very much for your honest feedback both here and during our subsequent telephone conversation. Feedback like yours gives us the opportunity to improve our service. As we discussed, the feedback we were encouraging in the welcome letter was in relation to the care provided for your relative, though I accept that the letter could be worded more clearly. Thank you for your kind offer to help draft a revised version. I received it this morning by email and it's very helpful. Our new welcome letter will use the phrases you have suggested.

I've passed on your views to our carer lead, who will contact you in the next couple of days. As I mentioned yesterday FIRST now offer Behavioural Family Therapy and your relative's care co-ordinator will be happy to give you details on this, if you are interested in finding out if this would be useful.

I'm afraid I'm unclear about the point you make about the CMHT, though I'd be happy to talk to you about this in more detail and could help identify who best to speak with about your concern. Alternatively, you can raise your complaint with the Trust's Customer Service and Experience Team (formerly PALS), and I'd be happy to help if needed.

Best wishes and thank you again for your feedback

Paul
