Following a visit to North Devon District Hospital A&E, an appointment was made for me to visit the Fracture Clinic to investigate severe pain in my right foot which had caused me to collapse when trying to walk on it on several occasions. The appointment was made within 24 hours of my visit to A&E who had already completed an Xray on my foot but who had been unable to establish any definite cause or damage.
On arrival at the fracture clinic, further Xrays of my foot were taken and after a short wait I was seen by Krishna who explained to me what had been found.
Due to the pain that I was in and as a result of there being no clear or obvious reason for this pain, Krishna arranged for a CT scan on the following day. He phoned me in the evening of Thursday to explain that he had discussed my situation with his Consultant and it was decided that a CT scan would help to resolve the issue.
Following the scan, which was carried out as arranged on Friday afternoon, I waited for a response from the fracture clinic and on Monday evening I received another call from Krishna who explained that no bone fractures had been detected. He went on to explain how I should continue to deal with this issue, offered physiotherapy assistance, gave advice on exercises that I could complete to help rectify the problem and offered an open appointment should the pain persist. The call, once again, was made in the early evening and some long time after one would have expected staff to have finished work for the day.
The treatment that I received, originally from the staff in A&E, through to the fracture clinic Xray department, the CT scan and finally and particularly from Krishna has been exemplary. Thank you.
