"I must give this team ten out of ten for their service"

About: Fife Community Services / Rapid Cancer Diagnostic Service (RCDS)

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

As a previous cancer patient I was concerned that over a short period my weight was going down. This meant my GP gave me an immediate referral to the RCDS team at Victoria Hospital.

I must give this team ten out of ten for their service. The whole process was seamless.  The speed is obviously one of the best parts of the service but what also needs to be acknowledged is the care and attention from the staff. Every part of my care was delivered with a high degree of understanding that I would be worried my previous cancer had returned. Blood tests, CT Scan and an Endoscopy where all done quickly and results delivered with speed.  Thanks to the teams at RCDS and Radiology,  Kyle (RCDS) guided me through the pathway with a nice caring manner.

Dear rcdsal206

My name is Murdina MacDonald. I am the professional Lead Nurse for our RCDS service and Lead Cancer Nurse. Thank you for sharing your experience of care which captures exactly what matters most to our patients that is timely access, clear communication, and compassionate care. It’s reassuring to hear that our service delivered a seamless pathway for you, from referral through to investigations and results. You’ve highlighted two critical strengths of the service: our speed and efficiency as rapid diagnostics reduce uncertainty and allow patients to move forward with confidence. Human connection which is the care and understanding shown by staff, particularly Kyle, demonstrates how empathy transforms a clinical process into a supportive experience.

Blood tests, CT scans, and endoscopy arranged quickly, with results delivered promptly, show how well the system works when teams collaborate effectively. Your comments underline the importance of maintaining this standard not just for clinical outcomes, but for patient reassurance.
Thank you again for taking the time to share this.

Feedback like yours helps us recognise what’s working and reinforces the value of patient-centred care.

Wishing you all the best as you move forward with your health.

Warm Wishes

Murdina
