"It was an extremely stressful weekend"

About: Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Urology

(as the patient),

I had an MRI on the Thursday afternoon toward the end of Oct for concerns about Prostrate.

I had a follow up appointment pre booked for early Nov.

Before the weekend my wife received 2 calls from RD&E bookings, understandably they would only talk to me.

I spoke to Booking late that afternoon and was asked to come in on Monday!

I asked why I was being called in so much earlier and was told it was a request by the team!

As you perhaps understand my wife an I spent the weekend fearing the worst scenarios. It was an extremely stressful weekend.

The good news for us is after seeing the consultant all is fine.

The team did not request the change it was just time management! The issue being , where is the harm in telling patients the reason for bringing an appointment forward by so much. If it is just management of appointments. It would have alleviated a lot of worry!

As for the staff and consultant seen in the day, they were first class. The consultant took time to explain everything and patiently answered our questions.

Thank you

Dear Ryk2218

Thank you for taking the time to give feedback on the Urology service. I would like to apologise for the stressful weekend you had following a call from the Booking Team to bring your appointment forward. We had your MRI results back earlier than expected and that should have been explained to you along with trying to avoid the need for you to wait longer for your appointment.

I will feed this back to the Booking and Admin teams to ensure this is avoided in the future.

I am pleased to hear that it was good news following your consultation.
