"From the start I was made to feel very welcome"

About: West Glasgow Ambulatory Care Hospital (Yorkhill) / Cardiac Rehabilitation

(as the patient),

My interview at Gartnavel Hospital is about my preliminary interview to enable me to start the Cardiac Rehabilitation Programme. The interview took 1 hour 45 minutes.

From the start I was made to feel very welcome, comfortable and able to ask any question at any time. There was a cardiac nurse and a student present. A very detailed description was made of what had been happening to me over the last 4 months - July through to October 2025. I was also able to briefly describe what had been happening since the middle of 2024 which ultimately lead to my bypass surgery in mid Aug 25. I was able to describe in detail the pros and cons of the after effects of the surgery and my gradual recovery. My physical ability was tested and closely monitored by a physiotherapist and the student so that I would be placed at the correct level of the rehab programme.

I was able to ask questions about driving and did I need to contact the DVLA and my car insurance company. That was all made clear to me.

I have to say I was extremely impressed with the Personnel who carried out the interview and with the amount of detail they went into. I felt that there was nothing that hadn’t been covered.

I look forward to starting the programme in early Nov 25.

Dear marchzk69

Thank you very much for sharing your detailed feedback following your recent preliminary interview for the Cardiac Rehabilitation Programme at Gartnavel Hospital.

We’re so pleased to hear that you felt welcomed, comfortable, and fully supported throughout your appointment. It’s great to know that our cardiac nurse, physiotherapist, and student provided clear information, thorough assessment, and took the time to ensure all your questions were answered — including important details about driving and recovery after surgery.

Our teams aim to deliver care that is both professional and personal, so your kind words about the attention to detail and level of care are greatly appreciated. Your comments have been shared with the Cardiac Rehabilitation team, who will be delighted to know their work made such a positive impression.

We’re glad to hear you’re looking forward to starting the programme and wish you continued success with your recovery.

Kind regards

Kevin
