Since a young age as far as I can remember I have always felt different, suffering from mood swings anxiety low self esteem and depression. This being a result of being bullied in school and in employment as a young adult.
I assumed as I got older things would be better and I could let go of the past and how things affected me at that time, unfortunately it never. It affected my personal life, social life, basically ruined things as my feelings started to turn to anger, then came mood swings, depression and low self esteem.
Then unfortunate for me when I had children I got ill with postnatal depression, put on medication, counselling was suggested but I repeatedly turned it down as felt very sceptical that it would help or work for me.
Some years later my mental health took a turn for the worst and again counselling was offered, this time I felt I had nothing to lose, it was my last shot.
I took the offering of counselling, and I am so glad that I did, as it has offered me a life line, techniques I am able to use myself, a more strategic and sensible way to deal with my thoughts and feelings, dealing with my anxiety is so much more easier, as is dealing with my anger and depression.
I have so much improved and its down to my counselling and myself, and the ability to put the hard work in and use the techniques I have been taught.
I am simply a happier person now, lots of motivation, and anxiety has almost left me completely.
