"Helping my mum deal with alzheimers"

About: Social Work Services / Crieff (South Locality) Social Work Team

(as a relative),

I live abroad and have recently had the journey of learning that mum has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and would require going to a home to help her meet her needs going forward. The distance made it very hard to cope, care and understand my mums needs.

My mum was struggling severely with depression, loneliness, lack of independence and just the swift decline in her memory and cognitive ability. She ended up in hospital due to a fall and then become institutionalised. This is where Lex entered my mum's life and made a huge difference.

She was calm, understanding and understood what mum needs and her requirements were in regard to the care and Alzheimers. Here we are six months on, and mum has settled into a new home and seems very content.

Dear Ellielous

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughtful and kind feedback.

Feedback like yours is always valued by staff and we have shared your story with the wider team who were delighted to receive such positive feedback, and in particular Lex.

It is such a privilege for Lex and the team to be able to support families during difficult times, and it is great to hear mum is now settled and content in her new home.

Best Wishes

Evelyn Martin
