About: Rheumatology / Ward 9

(as the patient),

I have been attending Rheumatology ward 9 in Altnagelvin for the past 2 year as I was diagnosed with psoriatic Rheumatoid Arthritis in my hands.

The two ladies Amanda and Bronagh that I have been seeing when I come up to the ward have been amazing . Any time I phone  rheumatology helpline I am called back within a couple of hours of leaving a message . They are helpful and always make the time to answer any questions I have on my condition and medication.

For instance I  attended the rapid clinic today at the ward as I was having issues with my medication and I had a new issue with pain in my left knee . Bronagh listened when I told her the issues I was having and talked me through my options as my medication had to be changed. Bronagh also arranged for my knees to be xrayed due to the pain just to rule out the start of arthritis there .  We will wait on the results.

I know this is only one part of the NHS that I use but I have to say the care and help that I get is invaluable. I work full time so it’s important for me to be able to get up every day and be able to function and rheumatology helps me do this

Also I cannot forget Francis in Bovally Clinic in Limavady that keeps me right with my bloods due to the medication I take for my arthritis .

Girls you are my lifeline and I am truly so thankful and grateful .

So thank you for your kindness, care , compassion and laughs xxx

Thank you very much for taking the time to post about your experience in Rheumatology.

I am glad you have a positive experience. We aim to provide the best care possible for our patients and I am glad that you feel this has been met in your case.

Your kind words have been passed on to both Bronagh & Amanda and they are both grateful to hear of your positive experience and that they played a part in that.

Hopefully you are doing well at present. If there is anything further we can help with feel free to contact helpline.

Kind Regards

Debbie Gallagher
