I have been suffering from rheumatoid athritis for the last 6 years. My condition is getting worse. I got referred to occupational therapy about 2 years ago because I was really struggling.
I saw the occupational therapist called Jacqueline at Hairmyres's hospital, East Kilbride. She was absolutely brilliant at taking her time to listen to all the struggles I had. Jacqueline is a very experienced Rheumatology occupational therapist. She was great at giving advice and sharing information regarding how I can make slight changes to my lifestyle to make things easier.
I had many face to face and telephone follow up appointments with Jacqueline. Each and every time, she took her time to listen to me, understood my issues, sent me leaflets with loads of information on my condition and how to manage day to day life.
She got in touch with other medical professionals to get the right help and support for me. She is very cheerful and approachable and she has great communication skills. I always feel so much better after speaking to her, knowing that she understands what i am talking about and what my barriers are. She always goes above and beyond to help me.
Currently I'm really struggling again, I had a telephone appointment with Jacqueline recently and she was a great help again. She emailed me the Energy Management diary to help me to keep a note of different activities I do throughout a day to help me to understand the importance of slowing down, breaking down the tasks and taking rest to make things better. She also emailed my consultant to see if they can see my soon due to my struggles.
I don't have enough words to say thanks to Jacqueline for all her help and support. Jacqueline, amazing people like you make things much easier for patients like me. Many thanks for all your help and support.
