"My mum's final days"

About: Medicine for the Elderly / The Medical Unit

(as a relative),

My mum had end-stage lymphoma when she was admitted to Arbroath infirmary. It was a frightening and confusing time for both my mum and her family. As my mum deteriorated, the staff did an amazing job of looking after her. They kept her clean, they treated her as a human being, always talking to her, explaining things, just being all-round kind and decent people.

When we were right at the end, they moved mum to a private room where we could be together with her as a family, and comfort her to her last breath. And the staff were right there for us too, bringing tea and biscuits, being emotionally supportive and offering us genuine compassion and sympathy in our deepest pain.

We will never ever forget the wonderful folks of ward 3, everyone was incredible.

Dear dancepj74

Thank you for taking the time to feedback your experience during your mums final days.

As a team we strive to provide a person centred approach which allows us to care for not only the patient but their family and loved ones too through this difficult time.

Your feedback has been shared with the nursing and wider team which has been greatly appreciated.

Kindest Regards

Wendy Mathieson SCN
