I recently gave birth at the Western Isles Hospital.
The care and attention I received was second to none, there is no words to describe the AMAZING team of staff in the Maternity Ward. They not just treated me extremely well but included my husband and made sure he was well looked after also, and ensured our wishes of a water birth and my husband to cut the cord and tell me the sex of our baby were all adhered to.
My labour progressed quicker than anyone expected but the midwife’s were brilliant and set up the birthing room with battery candles and dimmed lights creating such a nice atmosphere for my water birth.
My husband got to stay the night of the birth since our baby was born early morning, the staff arranged and made up a fold out bed for my husband and made him feel very welcome at anytime to attend.
We spoke to and dealt with a number of different midwife’s and health care assistants during our few nights stay in hospital and all of them stood out to us by providing an exception level of care and going above and beyond.
I felt very at ease and very well supported during my labour and afterwards.
We are extremely fortunate to have such a brilliant maternity team in the Western Isles, the care received made having to leave Uist at 38 weeks to head away to await babies arrival so much easier.
A massive thank you to all who were involved in our care.
