"A positive experience"

I attended an appointment with Dr Higgins, Consultant Obs & Gyn at Stobhill Hospital, after a long period of time in pain, which had a huge impact on my life. 

From start to finish my experience was very positive.  Dr Higgin's secretary, Shona, was really supportive.  She was helpful, friendly and very patient.  She went out of her way to make me feel listened to, and above all she showed me kindness and empathy. 

I felt confident that seeing Dr Higgins would be a positive experience before I even attended the appointment! 

Dr Higgins showed me compassion and care and made me feel valued.   She understood how the pain was impacting my life and gave me time to tell her how I felt.  She was non judgemental and I came out of the appointment feeling good and more positive about the future. 

She was very approachable and friendly and I felt really comfortable and able to be open about a subject which can be difficult to share with anyone.  She treated me with dignity and respect and provided me with ongoing treatment and follow up appointments which makes me feel confident that there is support there for me. 

Women's health can often be dismissed and waiting times for gyn referrals can exceed NHS waiting time.  This can affect many areas of your life including your mental health and relationship.  To have a consultant that empathises and understands your frustration, really helps.  Both Dr Higgins and Shona have restored my faith in our NHS.
