"An awful experience"

About: Pilgrim Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as a service user),

I arrived with my husband, to see a consultant in Orthopaedics. Nobody knew where the clinic was. We had to walk through the A&E patients who were waiting for treatment which was awful. Eventually found the clinic, didn't see the consultant we were supposed to.

The doctor who we saw was rude & it seemed like they couldn't be bothered. They didn't even examine me. Told me it's not just my hip, it's my spine as well. Go for an xray now, they will organise a MRI scan for my hip at a later date, then I can go home. I went for an xray, they said they were doing my right hip; no, I said, it's my left. So there was a delay. Went for MRI scan, same thing.

The doctor I saw also said contact my doctor who will arrange an appointment for my spine with a specialist. When I had my MRI scan they did my spine as well. I phoned my doctor, he couldn't understand why they said contact your doctor, then did the MRI scan. It was an awful experience, especially when you're in pain 24/7 and can hardly walk.
