"Excellent care for appendicitis"

I attended the Emergency Department at Altnagelvin Area Hospital on Wednesday evening at 8 pm with pain in the right. I have been very fortunate to have been cared for by some wonderful people. The staff in ED were obviously rushed off their feet, however they never complained and were always very friendly. There has been a lot of discussion around corridor care recently and although not entirely ideal, I was extremely grateful to have my treatment started promptly. I was seen by the Surgical Team during the night and first thing on Thursday morning and moved to Ward 4.

I had surgery on Thursday afternoon and all went well. I have met some extremely caring people during this time, from the theatre orderly Ian who kept me in good spirits during the journey to surgey, to all the theatre and recovery staff. I must give particular thanks to Ward 4, most notably SN Athul, SN Evan, NA Zoe and SN Christine. Christine in particular must be one of the most competent, efficient and kind people I have ever met. The ward manager and deputy sister have things right here. Thank you all for your help.
