"Very grateful to all the staff there"

About: Bideford Hospital / Therapies

(as the patient),

I was refered to physiotherapy at Bideford Hospital after a distal radial fracture of my right wrist. About 6 weeks after the break and with the plaster freshly off, I went for my first appointment. There were 3 physiotherapists, 2 students and 1 qualified and experienced one.

The whole of my right arm felt really vulnerable at that stage (I mistakenly thought I’d be driving as soon as the plaster came off!)

From this first visit I felt listened to, treated as an individual rather than a number, and comfortable.

On subseqent visits I twice saw an advanced student with the qualified physio supervising, and then had a couple of visits where I saw just the senior physio.

I had no idea how long this sort of fracture takes to heal full. 5 months down the line I have a good range of movement and a fair amount of strength in my hand but there’s still a way to go through my own efforts now to get as near 100 percent as I can.

My physiotherapy experience at Bideford Hospital was excellent and I am very grateful to all the staff there.
