After being admitted to hospital at a potentially the lowest point in my life I was filled with dread with how “my story” would be viewed by others and how I would be treated,
Stories about mental health wards across the UK do not tend to get a good name and all I can think is they haven’t been to a ward like this. Right from the start I was made to feel at ease and listened to from all the staff in south ward and nothing seemed a bother considering I was witnessing first hand how busy these staff are and the conditions (definitely appeared under staffed) they work in daily.
I would like to thank Cathy especially for being the first person I spoke to and really made me feel reassured- this lasted throughout my time in hospital. Courtney for always checking in and chatting about my hobbies with me.
The nurse Allison who always took time to listen to me and explain anything I wasn’t sure of in such a kind way and even printing the information I was struggling to remember Not only that but making me laugh everyday even on days I didnt think I’d smile. Tessa and Neil that asked me to attend groups that were well run and enjoyable The manager of the ward Amy who is attentive to patients and her staff which was wonderful to witness. Being on this ward has changed my life for the better and flipped my views on these services completely everyone who works here is SIMPLY A CREDIT TO THE NHS
"Wonderful staff during inpatient stay"
