"The level of care"

About: University Hospital Monklands / Ambulatory Care University Hospital Monklands / Medical Assessment Unit University Hospital Monklands / Pre Admission Assessment

(as a service user),

I brought my mother in yesterday to the University Hospital Monklands as a referral from her GP. From the very start, the level of care has been outstanding. I asked at the porter's office whether it was possible to borrow a wheelchair to transport mum. Lee not only found one, but insisted on taking us to A&E himself. Mum was assessed and admitted as a heart patient and then had a multitude of tests to assess and deal with her condition. On the following day, she was palpably improved, having had much of the fluid on her lung drained and was able to walk to the toilet unaided and without the support of a walking stick. All of the staff have been courteous, careful and mindful of her pain and condition, whilst also taking great pains to tell her what they have found and the impact this will have on her future. We are so grateful to everyone involved in her care; the porters, nurses, doctors and consultants.

I also want to commend the hospital on the free parking available to patients and their carers. This is markedly different from our experiences in London, where private companies make a (huge) profit out of people's misery, and the necessity for staff to secure parking. Thanks again, for everything!
