"Road to IVF journey"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Day Surgery Crosshouse Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

My road to starting my IVF journey has been very bumpy to say the least. After finding out I had a cyst on my ovary I met with Dr Acharya at Crosshouse to discuss my next steps. I was so anxious about this meeting as I had never been in hospital and didn’t know what the outcome would be. Dr Acharya was so supportive and so knowledgeable about what was best for me and my journey. I really felt he truly cared about me and my outcome.

My mind was really put at ease meeting with him. Fast forward to March 2025, I had my surgery at Crosshouse where the cyst was successfully removed. After the surgery Dr Acharya came round and discussed the surgery with myself and my husband, this is where we found out that IVF was the road for us. I was hoping deep down after the surgery the journey would be more straight forward.

3 months after the surgery my husband and I met with Dr Acharya for a follow up after the surgery. Dr Acharya went through what happened in the surgery again and was able to show us pictures! We weren’t made to feel rushed when asking questions and again I really felt like he genuinely cared about our outcome. During the follow up it was discussed that having my tubes clipped would hopefully give me a higher success for IVF. Dr Acharya was so helpful explaining this to me as it’s not something at 30 years old I thought I would have to decide. There was tears shed but we all knew this is for the best chance.

I recently had my tubes clipped by Dr Acharya where again I was reassured this was the best step to take. I was so anxious again to say the least but I was made to feel so comfortable by all the nurses at day surgery especially Isobel who took time out her talk to me, comfort me and talk about her own journey, I will be forever grateful for you in that moment where I really needed someone.

After never being in hospital in my full 30 years I’ve now been in twice this year with a road still ahead to me.

I really feel this journey has been made easier by Dr Acharya. The kindness he has shown towards me and my husband is something I will never forget. Thank you for supporting us, guiding us with decision making and hopefully helping make our dream come true in the near future. I would also like to say Linzi in the fertility clinic when I was first going through tests is an absolute angel. I will also never forget you wiping my tears and comforting me when needed.

Dr Acharya you really are simply the best. Crosshouse is very very lucky to have you and I’m very lucky that you have helped me get this far.
