"Toys need sanitising every day"

About: King's Mill Hospital / Accident and emergency King's Mill Hospital / Paediatrics

(as a parent/guardian),

I went to a&e due to my GP trying to get a hold of the paediatrics wards at Kingsmill but not managing to get through. This meant I had to take my baby to a&e. This is my first time in the child's unit due to my daughter being my only child.

Once I got there there was huge whiffs of fag just going to the children's department. It was all I could smell. No doors where shut and I couldn't help but feel so awful for the tiny babies in there that had to also endure this stench!

We had been sent up to a ward due to my daughter's rash needing to be looked at more in depth. My daughter is 1 year old and as any one year old would she wanted to play with the toys. I am very much a clean freak and wanted to know when was the last time the toys had been disinfected or wiped down. I asked the nurse and she had no idea. I'm sorry so if my child would have touched these toys she could have got every other child's germs passed onto her? I feel there needs to be a change and these toys need sanitising every day to prevent spread of infection.

Children go to these places to get better not to get worse.
