Had a recent double vision issue and was and had very thorough examination by the team in the Opthalmic Dept headed by Dr Zhang and have follow up appointments. Also got very positive informative phone call from Dr Zhang to clarify  a query about letter received via my GP .

However I thought when originally got appointments in for Opthalmic Clinic as I always have done  to place myself on a cancellation list so even at short notice would take a cancelled appointment . This has been taken up on several occasions for both myself and husbands appointments for various  NHS  Hospitals  .When phoning I originally spoke to front desk staff who said they don't have cancellation lists and as patients have 15 mins  leeway then too late but I asked about the patient who reply to the automated  service press 1 to attend press 2 if not  I was then put through to another Dept and a very pleasant lady called Angela took the call and confirmed that they don't have cancellation appointments list but would get back to me if she could clarify on that.

Yes next day Angela called said she asked about early appointment but as the eye condition I have sometimes clears  that's why a 2 month appointment given  and wouldn't necessary to be seen any  sooner .Now Angela could have said we don't do cancellations lists. But as many other receptionist, administration, and secretarial staff do they  try and give patients a positive response which means they go the extra mile in their jobs  Thank You  All especially Angela for her very professional and prompt replying to my query .πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ

Although I would like to see the cancellations being looked at as there must be numerous patients don't turn up but a fiend of ours said they actually pressed  no 2 to say not attending ( funeral of a sibling)  got letter saying as DNA they could be removed from list for further appointments if didn't turn up .I also was told this when had to rearrange an Orthopedic appt at GRI  could change once but if did again  removed . 

Appreciate need to keep waiting lists down but having people take up cancellations when  noted properly could help .
