"All went very well"

About: Queen Margaret Hospital / Endoscopy

(as the patient),

Sent to the Queen Margaret for a follow up colonoscopy because Edinburgh waiting lists were full. All went very well. No waiting. Staff excellent and only good things to say about the visit.

Two comments.

The instructions mentioned that I could bring dressing gown and slippers. I assumed it was an option and did not take anything. The staff had expected I would at least have brought slippers. I kept my socks on and no problem but maybe the instructions could be clearer.

I travelled by train and it would have been good to have a signpost or directions to the hospital at the station.

Dear Edinburgh Resident

Thank you for your feedback on your recent visit to the Regional Endoscopy Unit at QMH.

It was nice to hear you found the staff efficient and treated you well whilst you were here for your procedure.

Regarding your comments around the gown and slippers, they can be optional however it is for safety reasons we ask for either slippers or shoes to be worn whilst in the department as there is risk of slipping whilst walking around.

Regarding the directions I will propose adding some words to the patient leaflet to specify you leave the station and turn right as it is signposted from there.

I will discuss this further with my colleagues and see how we can amend them.

kind regards

Yvonne Bernard Charge Nurse
