"Utterly Disappointed"

About: Ordsall Health Surgery

(as the patient),

I got the flu in mid October — fever, cough, runny nose, the usual.

I took medicine and the fever went down after about 10 hours.

But about a week later, the fever came back and lasted the whole day. My muscles and bones were aching so badly that I couldn’t even sleep. A day after I’ve had a fever for over 30 hours that still hasn’t gone away.

I went to see an NHS doctor, and all they said was to get some rest and it will go away on its own. Seriously? I wouldn’t have gone to see a doctor if I could just 'rest it off.' I went because the pain and fever were unbearable.

The doctor didn’t prescribe anything — not even something to help with the pain or fever. It feels like they don’t actually care how much the patient is suffering.

I’m really disappointed with how dismissive the NHS can be sometimes. People go to see a doctor for help, not just to be told to go home and wait.
