"Wonderful paramedics"

About: Northern Ireland Ambulance Service / Emergency ambulance response

(as the patient),

In August I was really unwell, fortunately or unfortunately I don’t have any memories of any of this but have been told by my family. I started losing power in my body which resulted in me falling numerous times as a dead weight. There were a couple of call-outs where paramedics got me to my feet but I was adamant I wasn’t going to hospital, but my stats were so bad I had fallen and hit my head, my oxygen stats were so dangerously low, apparently I was still adamant I wasn’t going but they did not give up on me. I honestly wish I could remember so I could thank them properly but without them there is absolutely no way I would be sitting here today so thank you from the bottom of my heart you saved my life and in forever grateful.

Good afternoon Capri66,

My name is Maggie Hamilton, I am the Experience and Involvement officer with Northern Ireland Ambulance service. I am grateful to you for taking the time to share your experiences, especially after being so unwell. It was reassuring to learn that even though you were adamant you weren’t going to hospital the paramedics did not give up on you. It is really heartening to hear how grateful you are and even though you can't remember their names I can share your feedback with the paramedics who attended to you on the day and in order to locate them I would require the following information:

Date and approximate time of the incident

The address the ambulance was dispatched to

If you are happy to share this information, I can be contacted at Maggie.hamilton@nias.hscni.net

I hope you are recuperating well.

Kind regards,

Maggie
