I was referred to A&E following a call to the 111 service with rapid heart rate, dizziness and slight chest pain and was advised by the 111 call centre nurse that I’d be pre-booked in. On arrival and checking in, I was seen within 10 minutes and taken into the “blue-zone” and was attended to by a very professional, friendly nurse wearing a maroon uniform (apologies for not fully getting her name but I believe she was called Lee)?
She took a personal interest in my care and took time to explain exactly what was happening and what would happen next over a period of 6-7 hours despite being pulled in many directions due to the volume of patients arriving. Please pass on my thanks and gratitude if this is possible.
All of the staff in these units deserve praise for staying calm, polite and professional over a period of 24 hours I spent in the hospital.
I was eventually transferred to the Cardio unit (ward 10) and once again, despite being very busy, took time to make sure I was booked in and the process that would follow this.
"Fabulous service and care whilst under extreme pressure"
