I was referred by my doctor who phoned ahead & wrote a note to advise possible sepsis. I could hardly walk due to being dizzy, sick, pounding headache, fever etc. The reception staff did not take the note & advised to take it through to triage when called through. I lay over 2 chairs for approx 1 hour before being taken through. I was put on a drip, bloods taken & morphine given. My doctor gave me an anti-sickness jag & got another one at the hospital. I was then taken in the trolley to the corridor & put at the back door of reception. In total I was on the trolley for 26 hours. My husband dealt with my sick, had to ask for a blanket for my dignity as only had a hospital gown on & a pillow as my head & neck was in pain.
I was then taken to the receiving ward & got bloods & obs taken. My husband thought I was settled & going to get cared for so he went home. At 11.40pm, a nurse who never spoke came in with a porter & I was being moved to ward 1 (I did not know what this ward was). The next day just after lunch the staff nurse came in & told me I was being discharged as my bloods & kidney seemed better. I said that I did not know there was something wrong with my kidney to which they told me well this is the renal ward! I was not asked if I had been to the toilet, ate or drank anything. I was advised to get ready as quickly as possible. Still being very weak I managed to get dressed. A nurse came in and asked me to sit on the chair to wait for porter as they needed to change the bed! I did not manage to eat for a few days after that & then small amounts.
