What I liked
Attitude of the staff - both in the observation ward and later in Arethusa ward after being operated on. I was in the hospital for five days (admitted via A&E and then requiring an operation) and staff were helpful, friendly, reassuring and professional throughout. In addition, as I was not from the area, they did their best to try to ensure that information, records etc were shared with my GP and local hospital.
In addition, the wards I was in (and the toilets I used) were spotlessly clean.
A big thank you!
What could be improved
Admission to A&E took 4 1/2 hours, although to be fair, there seemed to have been a pub fight as a lot of people were being admitted with fight-related injuries and there were a lot of police officers present, which I am sure was very disruptive to operations. I was on my own and I would have appreciated someone telling me how long I might have to wait, as I was in some pain at this time.
Anything else?
I was particularly impressed that following discharge, the hospital called me at at home to see how I was coping (I had broken my ankle and as I live alone, they had been a bit concerned how I would cope).
