Attended Paediatric A&E. Fabulous staff and care. Very efficient 

But waiting area is lacking an area for crawling babies such as a play pen or play area.

Good afternoon Pumpkin123,

Thank you for taking the time to post about your experience in ED. I am delighted that you received efficient care that was up to the expected standard from our staff in ED.

I acknowledge that there is not anything for crawlers when waiting in the ED, and on reflection that could make it difficult to keep them occupied. We used to have toys that were all broken or needed condemned and they just had not been replaced.

A play pen or play area would be a great idea but it would not meet infection control standards, as in the ED we have babies and children in with lots of different contagious infections and we need to keep the spread to a minimum. It would not be safe to introduce a communal play area.

However, I have just a chat with our clinical paediatric sister and together we have came up with a few ideas of toys that would suit crawlers and pre walkers. We are planning to meet next week and get some ordered and then develop a cleaning schedule for the toys to prevent the spread of infection.
