"My Birth Experience"

I gave birth recently. When I arrived at the hospital it was for a growth scan and a sweep. During my sweep it was noticed that my waters had broken. I had called 2 weeks prior to this and shared my concerns of my waters leaking to be told - you've probably just peed yourself or not fully finished the toilet-. I felt very dismissed and patronised and became very upset after the phone call. I had also mentioned I was having irregular contractions during the phone call and still I was told not to worry unless they became regular. Through out the next few weeks I continued to leak what I assume was fluid each time I visited the toilet however didn't contact the midwife team due to the phone call prior making me feel like I was wasting their time.

I was sent for an induction straight away my sweep and was greeted by the most lovely staff. After all the information and worry going through my mind they made me feel reassured and listened to straight away. I had such a lovely birth experience where I was supported through out. The staff were lovely and caring showing amazing compassion.

I had two students during my labour and they were amazing. I can't believe the knowledge and professionalism they showed through out. They were giving great responsibility and knew how to use it. One of the students helped to deliver my baby and she stayed with my throughout responding to all of my needs and checking in regularly making me feel reassured. You can tell they had a lot of passion for the job they were doing.

The students are well trained and supported by the senior team they were guided and trusted allowing them to feel valued. The senior who started my induction and discharged me made me feel listened to valued and respected all of my wishes through out. I had such a positive birth experience this time round after a traumatic one the first time round. I believe your training has made the staff become better and helped your service massively.
