"It's hard to put into words just how much they helped"

About: Community Services (AMH) / Primary Care Mental Health –North

(as a service user),

I had therapy with Paige after some initial progress with Emma and I have finished feeling that i have finally had the right kind of therapy for me. For the first time in my life, after many years trying to get help, I had someone listen to me and try to understand me as an individual. Paige always understood what I needed to work on and how to best encourage me to engage in the tasks she set, she also let me discuss any issues that came up as the sessions progressed and this was exactly what I needed. Someone to challenge my thoughts and behaviours but was also sympathetic to my individual issues, something no other therapist has done, which normally led to me dropping out very quickly. Home appointments have also been extremely helpful for me, again something that I was never previously offered which made it near impossible for me to get the help I needed because I needed someone to help me be able to leave the house and though initially overwhelming, weekly appointments were also what was necessary to keep progressing and this was also not offered with my previous experience with lower level therapy.

It's hard to put into words just how much therapy with Paige has helped me because I have struggled for over 20 years without proper support and although i still have things to work on , my way of thinking has changed and I feel Joy again and hope for my future for the first time in a very long time.

To me this service is invaluable because I didn't fit previously in to either the lower level therapy or into the more extreme end so i just went on with no help at all getting worse and worse every year to the point of just totally giving up on life. Now I want to keep pushing myself to get better and hopefully live a happier and more fulfilling life. Paige really was a lifesaver for me and for that I will always be grateful.

Hello LimarieJDS

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this lovely feedback for Paige and the service. Receiving feedback is really important to everyone in the team as it helps us to ensure we are getting it just right for the people that use our service. I will ensure I share your feedback with Paige and the wider team, as I know how happy they will be to read it. It really does give us all enormous pride and job satisfaction to hear people’s recovery journeys, especially as great as yours.

Finding the right kind of therapy that meets your personal need and circumstance can often be a difficult journey, it is something we often hear. After suffering for over 20 years, people can often lose hope of ever finding the right support and achieving recovery. I am just so pleased that you found us and we could support you on your journey and you felt comfortable enough to stick with it, which is often the most difficult part of having therapy. I do hope you are incredibly proud of yourself and the hard work that you have put in, it’s definitely something to be proud of.

I am glad we could also meet your need for weekly home visits, which I hear from your feedback that it was really important to you. To hear that you are feeling joy again will fill us all with joy too.

Keep on pushing and using all you have learnt, happiness and fulfilment is sure to keep growing as you use what you have learnt in the therapy sessions.

We wish you all the very best for the future and continued recovery.

Take care

Jo
