"My Urgent Care Centre experience"

About: Southern Health & Social Care Trust / Urgent Care Centre (Phone First)

(as the patient),

With a history of Pulmonary Embolisms, and having presented with symptoms of this condition at the Urgent Care Centre, Craigavon Area Hospital, I entered a refreshingly positive section of CAH which gave me much encouragement for the potential future of the entire NHS system in Northern Ireland.

I was received with polite courtesy by the UCC Receptionist, and sat in a spotlessly clean waiting area of the Centre where, in no time flat, I was called to see a lady Doctor, a Doctor Rachel.

Doctor Rachel's professional, yet caring manner, made my wife and I completely at ease, and my medical anxieties began to dissipate, as I realised I was in the care of a most efficient and knowledgeable physician.

This thought struck me at the time: "It has been a long time since I have enjoyed the genuine care of a doctor with such true dedication to her profession."

In no time flat, and with precise medical questions, Doctor Rachel collated my symptoms, made her professional decisions for medical remedy, and sent me to her equally disciplined and professional nursing staff across the corridor to have the necessary blood tests, ECG, etc. done.  Those two young nurses were also of exceptional care and practice, and I was most grateful for the entire professional and prompt treatment at the Urgent Care Centre.

Gives me hope for the entire NHS System in Northern Ireland, were the practice of the Urgent Care Centre at Craigavon Area Hospital to be replicated throughout the Province.  Well done, UCC!  Thank you for bringing such genuine and efficient care back into the medical attention realm in that little Centre in Northern Ireland, UK.
