"I had an anaphylactic shock"

About: Colchester General Hospital / Accident and emergency East Of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust / Emergency ambulance East Of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust / NHS 111

(as the patient),

I had eaten one prawn, and within 20 minutes, my body was covered in hives, my mouth was swelling and my eye was closing.  I have stage 4 cancer, so I was pretty concerned and was having palpitations, and used my asthma spray to be on the safe side.  My husband rang 111 and the woman who responded was reassuring, helpful, and called an ambulance.  It arrived in about 35 minutes. The paramedics, Lucy and Chris, were reassuring, efficient, calm and helpful.  Lucy saw me right into A&E before officially handing me over.  I was so grateful to her.  The team in A&E were all friendly, efficient and kind.  I feel they have a very demanding job and some patients aren't always appreciative or pleasant.  I left the hospital in the early hours of the morning and couldn't fault my treatment.  I was very grateful to them all.
