In 2020 I was diagnosed as suffering from Parkinson's Disease. For me this was a new challenge, as I had never suffered from a serious illness before.
I then attended my first Parkinson's Review and was introduces to the Consultant, Dr. Francis, and the Parkinson's Nurse, Linda.
I was prescribed medicine and given advice about managing Parkinson's. Also there was a lot of information available regarding daily living etc. which would help me cope with this new way of life that my wife and I were now going to be leading. They both made us feel very comfortable and relaxed throughout my Review. Especially as this all happened during Covid, where Staff and Services where limited during this period.
I have now been attending a full Review Clinic for the passed 3 years, where dedicated staff give me advice, support and hope. The help I get from everyone at this clinic from Dr. Francis, Linda and the Physiotherapist, and the Occupational Therapist is priceless. Not to forget the lovely volunteer lady, who keeps us all going during the morning with tea and biscuits .
The support I receive from these professionals through the year, is helping my wife and I function as close to normal as possible. It has also encouraged me to get involved in PD research.
