"Keep up your good work"

About: New Victoria Hospital / Speech and language therapy

(as a service user),

I was very apprehensive about my appointment at speech and language mid October, as my speech comes and goes, and sometimes no-one can understand a word of what I'm saying. Heather from speech and language at New Victoria is an absolute asset to the team and to NHS Scotland. She was very patient, listened attentively and made me feel heard, valued and human, most importantly didn't downplay what I am experiencing when my speech comes and goes.

Keep up your good work, patients value good person-centre care and remember it for a long time. Unfortunately Heather is leaving this unit and I won't be seeing her again. Heather you will be a valued asset to your new role, wish you all the best (hope this gets forwarded to Heather).

Dear Forever Optimistic, thank you so much for taking the time to leave such positive feedback about the Speech & Language Therapy care you received at the New Victoria ACH.

I am sorry that you have been having difficulty with your speech, but glad that you felt well supported and properly listened to. I will certainly forward your kind comments on to Heather and also share with our wider team, as it is always a boost to hear that our patient-centred care has been of help and is appreciated.

We are very fortunate that Heather is one of our fabulous rotational team, so although she is moving on from the New Vic department, she will be staying within our service, learning new skills and sharing her experience of working with patients such as yourself.

Thank you again for sharing your experience and I hope you continue to feel that you are getting the right support for your difficulties with your speech.

Kind regards

Aileen McEntee ( Sector Lead SLT)
