"No one person would listen to me"

About: Maternity Care / Labour Ward

(as a service user),

Hi

I’ve tried so many times to do this but never see it through to the end!

In January I had my beautiful little boy although because of the lack of care at wishaw we almost didn’t have him!

No one person would listen to me that there was something wrong and I couldn’t give birth to my little boy being my 3rd child I knew something wasn’t right!

I was induced and during this process his heart rate dropped to 40bpm but they just brushed it off I then went to the labor ward and that wasn’t much better I told them my veins are dreadful when it comes to a cannula and usually requires a constant but they knew best and blew my vein then called for a consultant! As time went on I was in severe pain nothing like my last two times I was screaming for help to be told this is what we want the baby must be coming so they get prospered windows shut incubator heating up and had me pushing without being examined then a good bit later they decide to check and I wasn’t even 7cm! During this examination the midwife thought she could feel baby’s face and not head so had to call for a consultant to check. In comes someone who I thought clearly couldn’t be bothered and gave me a quick examination and scan to say baby was fine!

After lots more pushing tears and just feeling so let down they called for another consultant who checked me to say I wasn’t anywhere near 9cm and baby was coming face first in this moment my heart sank a little!

We had to be rushed for a c-section to deliver baby safely!

I was also placed on a lot of antibiotics which no one actually knows why!

I could go on and on regarding me experience but I’ll leave this here so people can see not everyone gets this amazing treatment you read about!

Dear julietzg93

Firstly I want to say I am so sorry for the experience you had in our care. We never want any women to feel the way you do and I would like to look into your care more to see what happened and what we need to improve on.

Please can you email the details to patientaffairs@lanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk to allow us to fully look into your case and respond to you.

I hope to hear from you soon

Kind regards
