"I really couldn’t have been cared for any better"

About: Maternity Care / Labour Ward Maternity Care / Postnatal (Ward 22)

(as a service user),

When I had my baby in May 2025, the care I received was excellent. From my midwives, Ashleigh and Monica, up to the medical staff, Jo and Sara. They were all very informative and helpful but also relaxed and caring.

I felt listened to and supported whilst receiving care that was in the best interests of both me and my baby. I was treated with respect, grace and gentleness as they guided me through my labour and then allowed me to rest with good pain relief afterwards. They both supported me into and out of the shower, and with fresh bed linen and plenty of tea and toast.

The post natal ward regularly checked in on me to see if I needed anything but also left me with plenty of time to rest and recover. I was shown where to get food and drinks and they came with regular pain relief and ice packs. They also allowed me to direct my discharge, not forcing me out of the door or making me stay longer than necessary.

Overall, my experience was very good and I really couldn’t have been cared for any better!

Thank you.

Dear Mags89,

Thank you for taking the time to share your positive experience within our Maternity Service whilst navigating parenthood with a 6 month old!

It is extremely important that our parents feel respected and included within all apects of their care and it is lovely to read the feedback regarding both our Midwifery and Medical Staff in ensuring this was maintained throughout.

Following the safe arrival of your baby, it is lovely to hear the small, yet equally important elements of care remained a priority and you had the opportunity to experience our (almost) award winning tea and toast which receives regular praise by our new parents, alonside regular and effective pain relief and plenty rest. It is lovely to hear the support continued within the Postnatal Ward and you felt the care given overall contributed to a positive birth experience.

Thank you again for taking the time to share with us your care experience and we will ensure the staff mentioned receive the recognition they deserve.

Regards

Elaine Daly
