"Hearing loss"

About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary / Ear, Nose and Throat

(as a service user),

I already wear hearing aids I woke up a couple of weeks ago to find that I had lost almost all my hearing in my left ear. I contacted my GP. I was told that only the doctor who originally spoke to me about my hearing loss could refer me for emergency appointment @ Dri. It would be around a week or so that she would be available. I contacted PALS for help and 2 days later I had an appointment @ ENT for hearing test & see a consultant.

The result was that my hearing in my left ear had got worse, the consultant said that I had probably had a mini stroke & would arrange a mri scan & send an ugent request to the hearing centre for hearing aud adjustment. It has been over 2 weeks I have not heard anything & am still deaf in the left ear I am partially sighted & only have 20% vision in my left eye so I rely heavily on my hearing.

I am currently having cancer treatment on my head & ongoing stent replacement for bladder & prostrate removal I find it very hard to communicate, can you please help
