"Therapy Team: Benefits for Patients"

About: Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Cancer Services

(as the patient),

Was invited to attend, free of charge, several 1hr weekly Physiotherapy sessions to help optimitise my physical fitness ahead of my cancer operation. For me, these sessions took place at Ottery St. Mary Hospital. Well run in suitable facilities by one or two enthusiastic, yet understanding, physiotherapists, these sessions were definitely beneficial and included (at the end of the final session) particularly useful advice on how best to get-out-of-bed after the operation and other tips on breathing, etc, whilst recovering.

I'm told these very worthwhile sessions are only a temporary trial. I would advocate that they become integrated fully into the current NHS system.
