"I will always be thankful to these wonderful people"

About: Borders General Hospital / Maternity care

(as a service user),

Late September I was admitted into the Borders General Hospital early morning to remove my balloon and break my waters. After 2 hours, I had only dilated 1 cm so I was put on a drip to speed things up.

Nicole (midwife) looked after me the whole time. She was amazing and determined to help deliver my baby before her shift ended that evening.

After Nicole finished another great midwife took over, Clare. Clare checked my cervix over and over and there was half a centimetre that wouldn't dilate, so she decided to call a doctor to check me. After the doctor checked me they decided that an emergency caesarean was required to deliver my baby girl safely.

I want to thank every member of the theatre team that night for delivering my baby safely and for looking after me.

The following morning I was also looked after by another midwife, Cammy, in the labour ward, she was also fantastic.

Midmorning I was transferred to Ward 16, where Morag took care of me, another amazing midwife. She helped me breastfeed and guided me with some amazing tips.

I will always be thankful to these wonderful people and outstanding professionals!

Thank you so much Jenni24 for taking the time to fed back to us about your experience within the Maternity Unit.

I am delighted to hear you had such a positive experience within the unit, despite having to have an emergency caesarean section - this can be very daunting for new parents. It sounds like you have been supported throughout your journey very well by Nicole, Clare and the Theatre Team as well as Camae & Morag postnatally, this is lovely to hear.

I will be sure to share your very kind words with the team, they will be delighted!

I hope you are settling into life with your new baby at home and managing some rest!

Kind Regards

Claire
