"GP's not seeing patients face to face"

About: General practices in Tayside

(as the patient),

I recently tried to get an appointment at my GP. They have this system of phone in at 8am. Told other surgeries adopting this practice. In my experience, it never works. Walked there. The member of staff I saw told me to go to Chemist next door and they told me to go to Chemist Consultant in town. He was good, told me I had Laryngitis and chest virus. Gave me throat stuff. Go get blood tests back at GP Surgery. So back I went. No appointments available . Complained to a senior member of staff, they could see how stressed I was chasing everywhere. They told me to come Monday morning at 8am. This I did. Got a phone call from GP who told me to see Nurse Practitioner. She was brilliant. Checked me. I have wheezing and crackling in my lungs, tight chest, barking cough! She has given me antibiotics. Might have to get steroids. I'm getting blood tests for Iron, Vitamin D + D, under-active thyroid, etc.. What are GP's being paid for? I believe that GPs are avoiding face to face with patients. Surgery waiting room always empty. It's a total disgrace! I think it's about time they were paid based on the number of face to face patients. I think what I've got was worth seeing a GP.

I've already complained about this GP practice when my Husband required Hospital Ops.
