"I felt lighter walking out"

About: Braid Valley Hospital and Ballymena Health and Care Centre / Community Midwives

(as a service user),

I attended for my 36 week antenatal appointment in Ballymena Health and care centre under the care of Dr Lavery. Following my appointment, having discussed some of my symptoms, I was told that they would be doing some further testing for cholestasis.

My heart sank! I am a worrier to begin with, but having had a rocky start to my pregnancy, I couldn't believe we were facing more complications. The fear was unbelievable!

I was straight away sent in to see Shelley, a midwife whom I had met before at the clinic who would be doing my bloods.

I have never been so glad to see a familiar face sitting at the desk. She took time to answer my questions, reassure me and make me feel a bit more human after the fear had sunk in. I can't thank her enough for taking time out of her morning to talk to me about my concerns. I felt lighter walking out of that room.
