I knew both podiatrists who were coming to do the removal, which I found really helpful. They explained everything they were doing as they went along which meant I always knew what was happening even though my choice for remaining calm was to keep my eyes closed. I am phobic about needles so I was very worried about getting the local anaesthetic. They gave me realistic expectations about which bits would be a bit sore and also reminded me to focus on my breathing while it was being administered. I found this really helpful. I was a bit nervous obviously but they did a great job of helping me remain calm and it was nowhere near as bad as I was expecting it to be.
