"Birth of our baby"

About: Maternity Care / Antenatal Maternity Care / Labour Ward Maternity Care / Postnatal (Ward 22)

(as the patient),

I attended for routine growth scan at 40 weeks pregnant and again 2 days later due to a slightly higher than number on the scan. I was then admitted for induction. Unfortunately my induction failed and only option was a c-section which I knew I had to get done. I had a good stay on ward 23, I was nervous the night before as hubby couldn’t stay but Emma always made sure I was okay .

The theatre team were amazing and kept both me and hubby calm and let us see our daughter being born.

But my story really starts in post natal. I want to make a really special mention to Midwife Claire (was on night shift both nights I stayed in) and Mary (csw) on my last night. These 2 lovely ladies made our first nights enjoyable. I had a few breakdowns but Claire calmed me down and explained everything to us as our daughter had to go to neonatal for observations for a bit. Claire also sat with us on our last night to help with feeding and burping. Also want to mention Mary who also spent time to help breastfeeding journey for us and gave us hints n tips with it - she knew her stuff!

If it wasn’t for these 2 ladies helping us, I would have gave up with breastfeeding, as I felt when I asked for help no one else in ward was interested in giving some advise.
