"I have received excellent midwifery care to date"

(as a service user),

I have received excellent care to date regarding my pregnancy at the Ulster hosputal. Unfortunately however within the South Eastern Trust, the hypnobirthing seems to be suspended. I would have loved to avail of this service, please can it be reinstated.

At present our hypnobirthing classes have been paused for several reasons. The current model of provision was based on a workforce that is employed via our midwifery bank and retire and return contracts, therefore future sustainability was concerning to the team. The team are reviewing content, staffing requirements, funding and evidence base and how we deliver a evidence based hypnobirthing service equitably across our entire service. It is also essential that we have a permanent skilled workforce to provide the service.

We hope to be able to reinstate this in the future. In the meantime there are a number of free pregnancy hypnobirthing resources online and free online classes you may wish to explore.

The South Eastern Trust does however, currently provide online live Antenatal Yoga classes available through the Zoom platform.

These classes are suitable for women who are 14 weeks or more in their pregnancy, with no prior experience needed. You will need to download the Zoom.us app to your device to access the class free.

What to expect: Classes last 1 hour and will focus on breathing techniques, meditation and mindfulness to help mother connect with their babies and prepare for labour.

Benefits: Antenatal yoga not only improves sleep, but has been shown to reduce stress and anxiety. It will also enhance your flexibility and strength not only physically but also your mental resilience during labour.
