"The birth of my first Grandchild"

About: Queen Margaret Hospital / Maternity care

(as a relative),

My daughter has had her first baby via Keillands RF. The procedure was completed in the Labour suite, not in theatre. My daughter had a significant PPH.

The staff ante natal and in labour suite have been incredible. Attentive, explaining small details, eliciting what my daughter and her husband knew and then providing information.

The post natal care has been variable.

My grand child was admitted to NNU with breathing difficulties. The care there was exceptional.

The post natal ward, in my opinion, have not been as attentive to a new mum.

The care, in my opinion, has not been consistent.

There is little explanation, minimal conversation, no introductions made.

Midwifery care has had bad press recently and I appreciate the strain the NHS and midwifery care is under.

I would like all staff to remember basic nursing care, kindness goes a long way. Taking time to notice a new mum who may be struggling.
