I was bitten on my spine/backbone around c6 by a spider.
My wife put Savlon on the wound and covered it with a plaster.
After 2 days it wasn't heling so I called the doctor's surgery and advised to visit a pharmacist.
The pharmacist gave me antibiotics advising me to go to A&E if it got worse.
After 5 days it got worse so I went to A&E.
They eventually took bloods.
A nurse dressed the wound.and the doctor also examined me and advised me to contact the surgery to get the results and for new dressings.
I did so.
The surgery nurse dressed the wound the following day and booked another appointment for 3 days time.
Unfortunately they did not have any waterproof dressings and I have to pick some up from my pharmacy.
The NHS system is heavily criticised.
I believe the system is broken in places and it can take hours in the A&E but the staff are incredible despite their workload. They are tireless in their efforts to help.
It's easy to criticise from the outside.
I hope our government provides good, solid robust solutions to the NHS so that we can provide continual excellent and timely service to those who need it.
