"The whole care experience left me feeling 'seen'"

In May 2025 I was referred for a Plastic Surgical referral to deal with Carpal Tunnel Symptoms. I opted for care at RD&E despite living in Cornwall because wait times were shorter.

I attended for an appt appt in early June and was impressed by the whole experience. The My Care App is a revelation and so beneficial to the whole process. On the day of appt the areas of the hospital I observed were clean and calm and all staff that I observed were smiley and friendly. The Dr I saw was running late and appologised for this but still gave me full attention and time for my own appointment. He was engaging and personable. 

My Surgery was arranged for endo of June 2025. Communication in arranging this was efficient and smooth.

On the day of my surgery I was impressed by the whole experience and care that I received. The set up is calming  and efficient. The nurse looking after me pre and post op was friendly and warm. The communication received throughout both verbal and in written instruction was fautless. 

Yesterday, mid October 2025 I attend OPD again for Post op follow up with the Consultant. Again I received a very warm , efficient and positive care experience. 

I would not hesitate to request referral to the RD&E again.  The whole care experience left me feeling 'seen' not just as a faceless patient but recognised as an individual. I was treated with respect throughout , communication was open. Staff appeared to take pride in themselves, their professions/ work and their hospital. Even the parking was relatively painless. 

Thank you to all involved in my RD&E care , what I experienced was the NHS at its best. The My Care App is amazing. If all of the NHS was using it , what a game changer that would be.
