After a Heart Attack last October my recovery meant that I attended rehabilitation clinic at Whiteabbey hospital.
After a bout of being wary I decided to attend, this was a massive decision that I do not regret making to have it explained in layman terms what happened helped me to really start my recovery, but behind the facade my mental health was deteriorating very badly and quickly.
The rehabilitation nurse noticed this and asked me what was wrong and I broke down and at last I could talk about how I felt, Anne the rehabilitation was amazing and stepped right in and got me an appointment with my GP something I had tried to do but hadn't succeeded.
My GP prescribed me as having severe PTSD and said I needed to see a mental health specialist but the waiting list was 2 years I find this absolutely ridiculous that anyone who was going through what I was going through would have to wait 2 years.
I was lucky I was able to speak to a mental health specialist through my work or in my honest opinion I would not be here. The rehabilitation clinic actually probably saved my life but unfortunately the NHS let the system down terribly.
To finish I would just like to thank the staff at Whiteabbey hospital for everything they have done for me over the last 9 months.
"This service actually probably saved my life"
