I was a patient at Victoria Hospital for several days and was eventually boarded off to AU2. The day shift were extremely short staffed (they were heard talking about being down to 2 nurses and had to send 2 members of staff home.)
A HCSW had said that they were off to get me a basin of water to get washed in and they would help me get dressed as I am disabled and need assistance. They disappeared.
By half past 10 I had to buzz as I was desperate for the loo and a nurse came to say there would be no assistance in getting dressed but did help me to the loo.
My pyjamas were far from clean and I felt awful.
My husband came in with children in tow and changed my clothes. Thankfully I was discharged that day.
No Hello my name is from any staff. Not an ideal situation when you don't know who it is changing your underwear. Very sad as I had been so well looked after in the other ward.
